The Pope-Douglas Resource Recovery Facility provides the Community of Alexandria and Pope & Douglas Counties with a clean alternative to land-filling their Municipal Solid Waste.  The facility is being expanded again to meet the growing waste supply in the service area.  When the new retrofit is completed, this facility will process approximately 70,000 tons of waste producing steam and electricity for sale to its energy customers.  The construction work is being completed by Wrigley Mechanical with combustion and APC technology supply by Novo Energy.

Combustion System:  The Pope-Douglas facility operates with 2 of the patented Aireal® Combustion Systems for maximum throughput and efficiency in the combustion process.  The Aireal® Combustion System allows for the most complete combustion of municipal solid waste with maximum energy (heat) recovery and the best way to eliminate potentially toxic materials form the waste stream.
